Ahmet and Sevket Icen, are brothers who were born and raised in Smyrna, Turkey, formerly Ismir. While immersed in Turkey’s rich cultural landscape, they gained knowledge of rugs, old and new, from their father who worked in the textile industry. Their love of Turkish culture, along with what they consider “art underfoot”, inspired the brothers to start their own company.
Since 2001, Smyrna Trading has aspired to keep a disappearing art-form alive with hand-knotted rugs and natural dyes. What makes Ahmet and Sevket most happy is being able to share the art that will be passed down for generations.
Smyrna Trading offers one-of-a-kind rugs from Turkey, India, Pakistan, and Nepal ranging from traditional to contemporary designs. Their hands-on customer service from rug selection to installation, helps designers make each project unique and memorable.
